Curator’s comments

This hand-colored etching serves as the cover art for Aminah Robinson's limited edition book about the Blackberry Patch and Poindexter Village. The Blackberry Patch was an historic African-American community on the east side of Columbus. It was razed in order to build Poindexter Village, a federally financed apartment complex that was completed by 1940. The pages of the book feature the Crowman, the Sockman, and the Umbrella Fixin' man and others who sold their goods and services on the neighborhood streets.
