Curator’s comments

Symphonic Poem is a combination of hand written and typed texts and dense pen-and-ink drawings and watercolors, whose imagery is largely made up of isolated heads and introspective or ecstatic female figures-the latter could be singing a spiritual-either solitary or contextualized in larger scenes. The screen also brings together for the first time in Robinson's work female figures and flower imagery. For Robinson, these are symbols of regeneration.

Artist’s comments

An on-going love affair, a multi-media work, Symphonic Poem is a long deep memory. It is a memory that travels deep into the past, present, and future. It is a passage... a light to both world, weaving them together. (Symphonic Poem pp. 50)
