Curator’s comments

On the advice of her junior high art teacher, Mr. Durant, Aminah began taking lessons on Saturdays at the Columbus Art School (now the Columbus College of Art and Design). Her social life revolved around the "Jolly Teens," a group she formed with five of her best girlfriends. The teens volunteered at community events, arranged small tea parties, and appeared together in public wearing "their" colors - turquoise and yellow.
